Pinot Blanc
Pinot Blanc grapes produce a soft and fruity white wine that is often compared to Chardonnay. In fact, Pinot Blanc grapes resemble Chardonnay grapes so much that there are many vineyards in Europe where plantings of the two grapes are intermingled.Pinot Blanc wines are usually dry and high in acidity with flavors of apples and spice. They typically have a very light, neutral aroma. Pinot Blanc wines go especially well with salty or sweet foods as this will offset their acidity.
Pinot Blanc wines are best enjoyed young and as a rule do not age well. Pinot Blanc grapes are grown in a number of places around the world but the best wines come from France's Alsace region and California.
