Winemaking Book
The Bridgeview 2001 Merlot is a bright and youthful, ruby coloured Merlot wine which evokes the flavors of blueberries and black cherries. This Merlot wine recommendation is a medium to full bodied wine that includes hints of spice on its finish. The price of this excellent Merlot wine is a mere ten dollars a bottle.

The Veramonte Merlot which comes from the Maipo Valley is a rich and full bodied Merlot wine with flavors of blackberries and a strong, aromatic cherry scent. This excellent Merlot wine recommendation also has a faint hint of mint and oak on the finish. This is a slightly more expensive wine then our previous Merlot wine recommendation. It costs approximately twenty dollars per bottle.

Perhaps because it is so well priced, Ernest and Julio Gallo's Merlot wine has become one of the better know brands of Merlot wine. It is dark and rich with smooth rounded tannins. Ernest and Julio Gallo's Merlot wine typically contain hints of plum and blackberry. If you are looking for an easy to drink Merlot wine then this is the Merlot wine recommendation for you. You can find Ernest and Julio Gallo's Merlot wines priced at approximately seven dollars a bottle.

As you can see from the Merlot wine recommendations listed above, the price of Merlot wines can vary somewhat but all of them are still very reasonably priced. As with all wines, you often pay for the brand name just as much as you pay for flavor but you can rest assured that when you buy most Merlot wines you will receive an excellent quality wine which is highly drinkable no matter what the cost may be. (This is certainly evident in the Merlot wine recommendations we have presented for you.)

Merlot wines are the world's second most popular red wine sold and are nearly always the first red wine to be enjoyed by those who are new red wine drinking. (see Merlot Grapes) More so than probably any other wine, it is actually rather difficult to find a bad Merlot wine. So, don't be afraid to experiment. It's always nice to have a particular wine in mind before heading off to the store. But, if some other Merlot wine catches your eye don't hesitate to give it a try. You may just find a Merlot wine recommendation that you can call your own.

Looking for a fool-proof way to discover great tasting, affordable wines that are easy to find at your local wine shop? Ed Gandia has put together a book that does just that. This is easily the best book I've ever seen on the subject.
